In this "green" age of conversation everyone seems to be quite intent on saving energy, paper, recyclable materials and water. I made a pit stop today to the big boy's room to wash my hands. During that short time of about 1 minute (I wash my hands thoroughly), I heard the toilet in one of the occupied stalls flush about 3 times. I began to wonder what was going on and then figured it out. A gentlemanly-like character was attempting to show a little compassion for his fellow man by flushing intermittently. (The theory is that the longer the "matter" is exposed, the less it will smell. Or something like that).
That caused me to think, does that really work, or is it just a waste of water? Or even, if it does work, is it worth the water being used and possibly wasted?
In looking for a scientific answer, I stumbled upon this site with a similar debate: The Poop Report. Be warned, its not exactly lunch time reading, but it is real talk for a real situation.
I still don't have an answer so I would love to have some responses. Feel free to chime in. I'd love to hear your opinion on the subject.
