Wow! That Jamie Foxx boy!! Golll-LY! I mean I always knew dude could sing but the production on Unpredictable is 7.25x better than his debut Peep This! Can't say that his sound is original, but what he does, he does well. Guest appearances by Luda, Twista, Kanye & Common, he seasons his soulful R&B ballads with a hip-hop flavor. He even covers the Kashif/Meli'sa (I never know wear that apostrophe goes) Morgan classic "Love Changes" with Mary J Blige.
He has a couple of unforgettable ballads on there and a selection of songs which are just right for "getting right." I said it! Most notably, "Three Letter Word." Not gonna say anything about it. Just listen to it.
I listened to Goapele's Change It All tonight and the ish is HOT! I think I'm feeling this one more than her last CD, Even Closer. Now if you want to hear someone with a real original sound, you've got to check Goap (pronounced "gw-AP") out. A very diverse selection of songs and quite a few to do the ol' 2-step to. I was surprised to see a colab with Dwele on the song "You." It's decent. Expected something more caliente though.
She even includes my fave from Even Closer, "Closer," as a bonus track. (I know that reads funny. Just read it again.)
My fave has GOT to be "Fly Away" which sounds like an 80's Duran Duran-inspired track. Definitely one which will get lots of play in the days, and maybe months, to come. I think I got my money's worth with both of these CDs.
UNDER STRESS
This is gonna be tough. I mean with this fast/diet thing. Walking on the street, passing pastry shops, dunkin donuts? How am I ever gonna do without pizza for 6 weeks?!?! Sugar!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Have mercy!!
WORK (side)
Been grindin' the last few days. Knocked out a DVD cover in less than 30 mins tonight on last minute notice. Like LL said, gotta get that twinkie out your mouth and do something.
